I dare not sleep for fear of dream
In deepest dark of so terrible scheme
I fear there the Kraken sleeps
And waits for me

It is so rare that I get inspired to write poetry that I got out of bed at 5:13 AM to post this on here.

I found some images depicting a kraken online while up surfing. When I had finished I was left alone in the dark in order to go to sleep. Instead all I could imagine to wait for me in my sleep would be a kraken trying to pull me beneath the waves. I found myself quite scared to fall asleep suddenly. Thats when this poem hit me and made me wonder. The story of the kraken was most likely created by sailors in the past to explain why some ships would simply disapear. The kraken may well have been in their heads. The thought of a real kraken was scary, but for me going to sleep with a possibility of having a nightmare with a kraken was also scary. For the life of me I cannot say which would be more frightening; having real life krakens or knowing you may fall asleep and be at the mercy of one that is only in your head. Cause when your asleep thats all you got isn't it?
